Benefits of laser hair reduction
Laser hair removal is the most successful long term solution to unwanted body hair and can be a much easier and less invasive treatment with multiple benefits including,
- Long lasting results - we recommend just a yearly top up helping you avoid other hair reduction activities like plucking, waxing or shaving
- No need to grow hair between treatments so you remain hair-free at all times – perfect for when the sun makes an unannounced appearance!
- Can be used to treat problematic ingrown hairs
- No recovery time after your treatment so you to return to daily activities straight away
- With an approximate £8000 spend in a lifetime with the removal of unwanted body hair, the process can be highly cost effective against traditional options like waxing
- Minimal discomfort means you don’t need to dread your appointment
IPL or laser for hair removal?
What they both do:
- Use light that heats up the hair follicle and destroys it.
- Take approximately 6-8 treatments to achieve complete hair reduction.
- Provide longer lasting results for patients looking to remove hair versus other traditional options such as plucking, waxing or shaving.
The difference between the two is quite simple:
IPL (or Intense Pulse Light treatment) goes to more depth and intensity to destroy the hair follicle. However, because of this additional intensity, it means that it may only be suitable for those with a lighter skin type.
Laser hair removal on the other hand can work with darker skin.
IPL technology can also be used to treat a variety of skin conditions including thread veins, sun spots and rosacea.
Specialist staff and treatment
Different skin types require different laser treatments and setting to safely achieve the best results.
Our laser technicians will assess your skin and problem hair. After this free consultation, your laser aesthetician will then devise a personal treatment plan that gives you long-term smoother skin.
Every one of our laser aestheticians is highly trained and receives on-going training in the very latest techniques in laser hair removal.
Our staff undergo regular assessment and support and are trained in a culture to ensure nothing is rushed and that patient satisfaction and health is paramount.
All our aestheticians are CTC registered and strive to work hard to ensure rigorous safety standards are maintained consistently.

Can you treat my skin type?
Laser hair removal can treat a wide variety of skin types. Our lasers should allow us to treat anyone but our fully trained aestheticians will do a patch test to make sure you are suitable for treatment.
Whatever your skin type, we would never recommend any treatment that would be ineffective or harm you. With new advanced technology, we can now successfully treat darker skin types
What does the treatment involve?
At your first appointment, the clinic aesthetician will assess your skin type, explain any risks and conduct patch tests (many local clinics won't undertake a patch test but we also test an area of your skin to test if there's any allergic reaction to the treatment). You will not be able to start your treatment for two weeks after the patch test to ensure you have no adverse reactions.
You will not be able to start any treatment if your skin has been in the sun in the last 2 weeks. You will also be advised not to go in the sun for 2 weeks after your treatment.
If your patch test is successful, you can book your next appointment where your aesthetician will recommend a personal treatment plan and begin your treatment.
You will be asked to ensure the area is shaved before you come in.
Each treatment takes from 15 minutes to an hour, depending on the area. Typically the following timeframes can be estimated, though differ from person to person;
|Underarm hair removal
||30 minutes or less
|Leg hair removal
||45 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes
|Bikini & pubic hair removal
||20 to 40 minutes
|Back hair removal
||45 minutes to 2 hours
A cooling conducting gel will be applied before gliding the IPL or laser machine across the skin. You’ll feel a slight tingling, but no pain.
After your treatment has finished we will cool the area again with a cooling gel and apply SPF to further sooth and protect the treated area. You will be advised to wear a high SPF on the area after your treatment.
The results you can achieve from a course of laser hair removal treatment has long lasting results. We do recommend a yearly top up treatments to maintain smooth hair-free skin.
How long does it take to recover?
There is no recovery time after a laser hair removal session.
Our aestheticians will cool down the treated area with cooling gels or agents like aloe vera that will allow you to carry on with your day.
However, we do recommend that patients avoid undertaking activities or using products that may be sensitive on the skin. For example, we advise that patients do not use sun beds before or after treatment and to use SPF skin protection.
